Matthew 14:28-30

28 And Peter answered him, “Lord, if it is you, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 And those in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

Dear Father,
You created the Heavens and the Earth with Your hands and You reign over them. You also created the Oceans and all of the water that surrounds us and You reign over the Oceans as well:

Psalm 29:3 – The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of Glory thunders, the Lord, over many waters.

You went to great depths in making the Oceans all across the world. Waters both shallow and deep, seas both wide and long, and so vast in all of their complexities. You made it all Father.

You made the shallow waters that are calm and clear. These waters are well known, predictable, and comfortable. Each step we take in these waters is easy and well-chartered.

You also made the deeper waters that are more wild and dark to us. These waters are unknown, unpredictable, and treacherous. Each step we take towards these waters is uneasy and for many of us unchartered.

As we read in Your Word, we saw how You called Peter out onto the waters. He was scared because he was venturing out unto Unchartered WATERS. Peters feet began to dip deeper and deeper into the unknown because his faith dwindled. Fear of the unknown, fear of sinking, fear of drifting deeper into the ocean were many of the thoughts that occupied his mind.

But in that very instant, the Living Christ reached out His mighty hand and said, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”.

Many of us find ourselves in Peter's situation. We venture out in faith and find waters that are deep and dark and the unknown winds blow on us. We taste the very fear that Peter tasted and we become overwhelmed with anxiety.

Lord, today we thank You for giving us the Faith to conquer unbelief.
Thank You Lord for giving us the courage to walk towards and through deeper waters. Whatever it looks like Lord, we know that You will reach Your outstretched hand to us and speak words of encouragement. Your hand holding onto our hand releasing Your love and Your Brightness to shine down wisdom on our situation.

Lord, take us away from the shorelines that are comfortable.
Where the sand is soft beneath our feet and where our next step is choreographed day in and day out.
Call us out onto the deeper waters where our faith can be made stronger.
Draw us deeper into a relationship with You that builds our Faith. Help us Lord to walk towards opportunities that continue to build our faith and that conquers the quivers of unbelief, today and each and every day.

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embraceI am Yours and You are mine

Will you walk upon the waters with Jesus?
