Ireland

In 2016 Operation World reports that 1.5% of Ireland’s population is categorized Evangelical Christian. That’s an increase of .5% from their report in 2001. With a population of just over 4.5 million, that’s a little more that 4.4 million people who have not had a conversion experience of repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. The religious history of Ireland is steeped in Catholicism, but the Vatican is more and more being viewed as an ancient tradition that, while valued on a cultural level, has no impact in terms of personal identity. In some ways that has opened the door for Evangelical churches to thrive.

In 2007 Christianity Today reported that “60 percent of evangelical churches have started in the last 25 years; 40 percent in the last 10. Nearly half claim no denomination.” Pray for these churches in Ireland. They have a glorious opportunity to present Jesus Christ to Muslims, Travelers (Gypsies), and a very young secular population who are hungry for Truth. Jesus Christ is THE Truth. May God move in power within the borders of Ireland to bring salvation to the lost and healing to the hurting.
